New Leadership for UNICEF Jamaica
KINGSTON, 21 August, 2013 – UNICEF Jamaica welcomes the appointment of Mr. Mark Connolly to the post of Representative.
Mr. Connolly, who assumed duties this week, has over twenty-five years of experience working on issues affecting children with several international development organizations, including UNICEF, UNAIDS, World Health Organization, Children’s Investment Fund Foundation and Street Kids International.
In his UNICEF career, Mr. Connolly has focused extensively on public health, particularly HIV prevention and mitigating the impact of AIDS on children and families.
He has also worked on major child protection issues, including strategies to reduce violence against children.
"I am deeply privileged to have the opportunity to serve children and families in Jamaica,” said Mr. Connolly. I look forward to working with UNICEF's government and NGO partners and with all advocates for children to build on the positive efforts underway, and to strengthen areas that need greater attention. We need all hands on deck to secure the rights and equal opportunities to which every Jamaican child is entitled."
UNICEF Jamaica’s former Representative, Mr. Robert Fuderich, has started a new tour of duty as head of the UNICEF country office in Uzbekistan.
