Children visit IRC

A group of students of Moheb-e Saf School show their own-made bracelets to support the global HIV/AIDS campaign

Children visitors to UNICEF’s information resource center (IRC) arrive with lots of questions. Where, they want to know, does UNICEF keep all the deprived children it protects? Visitors don’t find vulnerable children living in UNICEF’s office, that’s not our mandate, but other important questions are answered. For instance, they learn the legal definition of a child. They also learn why the UN is headquartered in the only country (America) that hasn’t ratified the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Over the past year hundreds of students in Tehran and Bam have spent mornings at the IRC learning about the situation and the rights of children. To spread its messages UNICEF often shows cartoons films. After watching a video about HIV/AIDS students made blue and red bracelets, symbols of their support for the global HIV/AIDS campaign.

UNICEF's IRC is a unique learning environment full of books and magazines where students and educators can learn about efforts in Iran and around the world to promote children's rights.

The IRC is open to all schools and students. For more information or to schedule a visit please contact Ms. Leila Ensanzadeh, at 021 22594994 Ext: 106.
