UNICEF Iran Goodwill Ambassador expresses readiness to help quake-stricken people in East Azerbaijan

Tehran 13 August 2012- UNICEF Iran Goodwill Ambassador, Mahtab Keramati, offered her deepest condolences to the Iranian people particularly the families of those killed or injured by the recent earthquake in East Azerbaijan.

I convey my deep sympathy and prayers after such fatal earthquakes. I would like to express condolences to the families of the victims, and to wish recovery for all those injured and affected.’Said Ms. Keramati.

 She said UNICEF Iran office has already informed the Iranian government of its readiness and commitment to provide any necessary support.

She added she is ready to help in any possible way.” I would take every step I can to be of help to the women and children affected by the earthquake.” Said UNICEF Iran Goodwill Ambassador Mahtab Keramati.

UNICEF played a key role during the Bam earthquake and has global expertise in dealing with emergencies and it stands ready to help as appropriate.
