World AIDS Day 2008

Pop Concert to Mark World AIDS Day to be held in Tehran from 7 to 12 November

A fundraising concert to mark the 20th anniversary of World AIDS Day, which is celebrated annually on 1 December, will take place in Tehran from 7 to 12 November.

The event, which is supported by UNICEF and UNAIDS and takes place under the theme “Lead – Empower – Deliver”, features four well-known Iranian pop stars: Alireza Assar, Mehran Modiri, Mani Rahnama and Reza Yazdani. The proceeds of the concerts will go to UNICEF’s HIV/AIDS programme in Iran.

The concerts will begin every night at 19.00 and take place at the Ministry of Interior Hall. The Representative of UNICEF Iran, Christian Salazar-Volkmann, will give a speech at the opening night.

Tickets can be ordered online at www.golcheen.net and bought at Darinoush, Nashr Cheshmeh and Niavaran Book City in Tehran.
