Mr Frank J. Devlyn
President
Rotary International
A Rotarian since 1970, Frank Devlyn is Rotary International's (RI)
President for 2000-2001. Under the motto: Create Awareness - Take Action,
one of Mr. Devlyn's key emphasis is to proactively continue Rotary and
Rotary Foundation initiatives including PolioPlus - RI's top priority.
To date, RI has contributed US$ 378 million to polio eradication and
helped to mobilize millions of new volunteers each year to assist in
national polio immunization campaigns. By the year 2005, Rotary's contributions
to the polio eradication initiative will be approximately US$ 500 million.
Frank Devlyn, president of the Devlyn Optical Group of Mexico, a manufacturer,
distributor and retailer of optical products, grew up in Ciudad Juárez,
Chihuahua, Mexico, and El Paso, Texas, USA. A graduate of business administration,
Mr Devlyn is also a graduate of the School of Optometry of the Mexican
Association of Opticians and Optometrists. Among many board memberships
in both the public and private sectors, Mr Devlyn has served The Rotary
Foundation as a trustee and RI as a director, international assembly
discussion group leader, committee chairman and member, and district
governor. Mr Devlyn is a member of the Rotary Club of Anáhuac
in Mexico City.
