WARSAW, Poland, 30 October 2006 – Deputy Executive Director Rima Salah recently visited Poland where she celebrated UNICEF’s 60th anniversary along with the Government of Poland and the Polish National Committee for UNICEF.

In honor of the anniversary, Ms. Salah participated in a charity gala called 'One world, two faces' and organized by UNICEF Poland.

A fruitful visit

“The gala was a very successful charity event. Nearly $167,000 was raised,” said UNICEF Poland Corporate Relations Director Danuta Kowalska. “I wish to thank all the people of goodwill who have so generously supported our work to benefit children throughout the world.”

In addition to attending the gala, Ms. Salah had an official meeting with the Under-Secretary of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Janusz Stanczyk, during her stay in Poland.

“Our meeting in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was very fruitful,” said Ms. Salah. “The Polish Government undertook an obligation for constant enhancement of funds for UNICEF. We also talked about additional financial and technical support in case of emergencies."
