UNICEF supports the Government of Indonesia’s efforts to increase access to basic education by developing a community based education information system that tracks all children under 18 years of age who are out of school.

To meet ‘Education for All’ goals by 2015, the Government of Indonesia, with financial and technical support from UNICEF, is currently placing a strong emphasis on developing sub-national Education For All action plans that focus on provision of quality basic education for all Indonesian children aged 6 to 15.

UNICEF also supports the ongoing Creating Learning Communities for Children (CLCC) program in cooperation with local governments, communities and children across eight provinces in Indonesia. The project has grown rapidly from 1326 schools in 2004 to 1496 schools in 2005, benefiting over 45,454 teachers and creating a more stimulating learning environment for over 275,078 students.
