About UNICEF Indonesia

UNICEF is a world leader in the procurement of supplies for children. The central objective of UNICEF Procurement Services is to assist development partners in the procurement of quality, value-for-money supplies from reliable manufacturers. In this way, partners can use and learn from UNICEF’s expertise in their own efforts to help children.

Procurement Services provides a broad approach to supply management, building on national capacities, and includes technical assistance, management services and supply services. 

The main focus areas are: 

• Mosquito nets, insecticides and malaria medicines;
• Vaccines and safe injection materials;
• Cold-chain equipment;
• Medical devices – consumables and equipment;
• Pharmaceuticals and micronutrients;
• HIV/AIDS medicines and diagnostics;
• Water, environment and sanitation; and
• Education equipment.

In 2006, the value of all Procurement Services transactions totalled $449 million. Commodities were shipped to more than 230 partners in 97 countries around the world.

There are many advantages to becoming a UNICEF partner. Procurement Services combines global reach with local knowledge, managed from UNICEF’s Supply Division in Copenhagen, in collaboration with the organization’s country offices covering 155 countries and territories around the world.

In Indonesia we coordinate all our programmes and projects through the Country Office located in Jakarta. In order to support the local regions we also have 12 field offices with dedicated staff to work with our counterparts. We cover the regions through our field offices in Bandung, Semarang, Surabaya, Kupang, Makassar, Ternate, Ambon, Jayapura, Banda Aceh, Meulaboh, Medan and Nias. In addition the Banda Aceh office is in charge of UNICEF response for Tsunami relief, rehabilitation and recovery activities.
