But with the largest number of malnourished children in the world faces a challenge in terms of investing in its large and growing young population. This summary report assesses the extent of public spending on the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) programme and the quality of spending with regard to the outputs and services delivered.

Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) - Budgeting for Change Series, 2011
India’s total public spending on education (at 3.23 per cent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2009-10) is nowhere near the promised 6 per cent and the educational outcomes reveal critical gaps. Launched in 2001, the goal of the SSA is to ensure that ‘every child is in school and is learning well.’

Total Sanitation Campaign (TSC) - Budgeting for Change Series, 2011
This summary report attempts to assess the magnitude of public spending on sanitation in India, specifically on the Total Sanitation Campaign (TSC), and the quality of spending with regard to the outputs and services delivered. The focus is on understanding the issues that constrain fund utilisation in the Campaign, right from the Union Government to the State Government level, and further down to the district, block, village and the primary unit of service delivery.
