Special: International Day of the Girl Child
Press Release: On International Day of the Girl Child, Innovation Key to More Girls in School and Learning
Despite the decreasing number of girls out of school, too many around the world are still denied a quality education and a chance to reach their full potential. Evidence shows that even a single year of secondary school for a girl correlates with as much as a 25 per cent increase in her future earnings. But today, millions of girls are still out of school, including 31 million primary school aged girls.
As levels of education of girls increases, the Under 5 Mortality Rates, teenage pregnancies and total fertility rates reduces drastically. Investing in girls' education is an important component of strategies to address under mortality, child marriage and teenage pregnancies.
On the eve of International Day of the Girl Child, seven young leaders from #Vadodara and #Patan districts, one of the remotest tribal block of #Gujarat, went on air on All India Radio (AIR) and Radio One to urge listeners to pledge for the rights of the girl child.
