Oxford Bookstore Encourages Customers to Support Every Child’s Right To Education

NEW DELHI, 22 February 2011– Oxford Bookstore has joined hands with UNICEF India to help raise funds for UNICEF’s education programmes in India. Through the partnership, Oxford Bookstore aims to encourage its customers to support every child’s right to education.

The partnership, commencing 1 March, will for next seven months, encourage customers to donate Rs. 10 to UNICEF every time they make purchase at the designated Oxford Bookstores in major metros of the country.

Commenting on the partnership, Chief of Resource Mobilisation at UNICEF, Clement Chauvet, "This is an important partnership for us. It is an effective way to engage with people and create awareness about issues impacting children while at the same time, mobilizing crucial funds for our work”.

Ms. Renu Kakkar, Vice President, Corporate Communications & Technology, Apeejay Surrendra Group added " A key focus area  of  Apeejay Surrendra Group's  Social Sector Initiatives  consists of  children and education support. The present partnership makes our corporate engagement stronger and  adds to our  past association with UNICEF , in our Assam Tea Plantations as well as a corporate supporter of  the Awaaz Do initiative."

Among the oldest bookstores in India, Oxford Bookstore, now part of the Apeejay Surrendra Group, started off in 1920 as Oxford Book and Stationery Company in Kolkata.
