Girl Stars Roadshow Diary

 

May 12, 2007 – Mahuli, Block Patna Rural, District Patna

  • Entered Mahuli village at 9:30 a.m. and after meeting and consulting Sarpanch Saryu Ravidas, set up the truck.
  • After the announcements, children, men and women started gathering around. Total audience by the time of screening the films: 300 – 360.
  • Video much appreciated.  Women watched the entire screening.

    Sarpanch Saryu Ravidas: “Because of teachers’ carelessness, girls are not feeling safe in the schools”

    Praveen Paswan, Businessman: “Teacher in the school makes girls do their personal work. Because of this, parents don’t want to send their daughters to school.”

    Nirmala Devi, villager: “There is discrimination between rich and poor students in the school”

    Sidheshwar Prasad, villager: “Is the government doing anything for the poor children?”

    Wound up the camp and left Mahuli at 4:30 p.m.
