Interns prepare to fan out in Madhya Pradesh

Fourteen interns arrived in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday 17th June to begin working on four case studies:

  1. Birth registration - Achieving 100 percent birth registration in Dhar district of Madhya Pradesh.
  2. Recyling of non-potable grey water in tribal residential schools – assessment and documentation of water re-use model established in the tribal schools of Dhar and Jhabua districts
  3. Community monitoring process: documentation and impact of initiatives of Gram Sabha in monitoring state deliveries in education and health in selective of Sehore district.
  4. MCP Card as community empowerment tool: whether it has facilitated leveraging and improving services and their utilisation

The team of 14 has been split into 4 groups and will be placed one each in:

- The National Institute of Public Cooperation & Child Development (NIPCCD) Regional centre - Indore
- The Regional Resource Laboratory, Bhopal
- Samarthan (an NGO) in Bhopal, and
- The M.P. Academy, Bhopal

Mr. Tapas Datta, UNICEF State Representative for Madhya Pradesh welcomed them at a brief orientation.  Speaking on the expected outcomes of the internships, he said "Your participation will add value to our efforts in upholding the rights of the child. 

The interns used the opportunity to ask questions on their assignments and field conditions during the interaction.
