Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
1. Complete secondary school education. Familiarity with book-keeping and accounting. Ability to operate calculator or other machines used to maintain accounts. Knowledge of windows-based software applications is must.
2. Minimum three years in clerical or assistant position in general finance areas.
3. Fluency in oral and written english. Knowledge of Hindi is essential.
4. Knowledge of UNICEF programme policies and procedures.
5. Knowledge of windows-based computer software application.
6. Ability to organise own work.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Maintain financial records and documents in accordance with financial circulars currently in force. This includes proper filing of all payment vouchers, deposit vouchers, journal vouchers etc.
2. Obtain signatures on the cheques, instruction to the bank from the Signatories and submit the original instruction to the bank for the transfers to State Offices and Staff members account.
3. Prepare cheque transmittal memo and Sales Tax Exemption certificates for all payments as applicable.
4. Arrange despatch of cheque for suppliers, staff members, State Offices etc, maintaining copies for records and coordination with Mail Room.
5. Provide copies of payment vouchers, DVs and CRVs to Sections, other offices, headquarters, staff members, as necessary from time to time.
6. Assist Finance Officer in maintaining centralized files of valid accounting and financial instructions issued from time to time, exchange rates, post adjustments etc.
