The State of the World's Children (SOWC) 2009 Executive Summary and SOWC 2009 Main Report The publication examines critical issues in maternal and newborn health, underscoring the need to establish comprehensive continua of care for mothers, newborns and children. The report also outlines key paradigms in health programming and policies for mothers and newborns, and examines partnerships and collaborative initiatives aimed at improving maternal and neonatal health. The Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) is a household survey developed by UNICEF in response to the World Summit for Children, held in 1990, to measure progress towards an internationally agreed set of goals for children. The third Guyana MICS as conducted in 2006 by the Bureau of Statistics to monitor the situation of children and women at the national and sub-national level. Children and the Media -A hand book for Journalists aims to provide guidance through a set of ethical issues that require consideration when dealing with young people. It is a methodological handbook describing approaches to working with children and adolescents. It also provides a summary of thearticles in the Convention on the Rights of the Child. The standards are a committtment to adhere to an approved and published baseline for providing quality care, made to the children and the community by Govenment and the children's homes.
