UNICEF Guyana and Suriname on the 25th August, 2016 reached an important milestone in our commitment to children and women in Guyana with the official launch of the 5th Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) report. The MICS is an international household survey initiative, developed by UNICEF, through which we assist countries in collecting and analyzing data in order to monitor the situation of children and women.




Earth Hour

On Saturday 19 March, 2016, more than two thousand people gathered at the Independence Square in Paramaribo, Suriname to celebrate Earth Hour and recommit to taking care of our planet for future generations.

Earth Hour is a global campaign to raise awareness on the effects of climate change.

This annual event has grown into a movement that culminates in an hour of inspiration across the world. This year’s event marked the tenth year of the campaign. The theme, 60+ represented the one hour of less energy being consumed to benefit the planet.
