Avian Flu

National Strategic Communications Plan on Avian Influenza, 2006 – 2008

The strategy was developed by members of the Communication Sub-Group on AI with the support of UNICEF. It details the proposed behavioral actions that should be communicated across various segments of the Georgian population in preventing animal to animal, animal to human and human to human transmission, as well as in implementing a post-pandemic recovery strategy.

Knowledge, Attitudes, Practices and Behaviors Study on Avian Influenza, 2006

This study aims to identify cultural, economic, behavioral and other factors that act as barriers and enablers among key target audiences for the adoption of healthy behaviors and safe practices related to poultry keeping, raising, handling and consumption.

Upon the request of the Government UNICEF has developed 7500 copies of posters in Georgian and Russian languages. The materials have been distributed by the Ministries of Health and Education. Additional copies have been produced for Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

Upon the request of the Government UNICEF has developed 330 000 copies of leaflets for families in Georgian and Russian languages. The materials have been distributed by the Ministries of Health and Education. Additional copies have been produced for Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
