UNICEF at the 57th Session of the CSW

The 57th session of the CSW, held in New York on 4-15 March 2013, focused on the priority theme of ‘Elimination and prevention of all forms of violence against women and girls.’ In preparation for the session, to contribute to a full understanding of issues related to prevention of violence against women and girls and to assist the Commission in its deliberations, UN-Women, in collaboration with UNICEF, the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), UNFPA, UNDP and WHO convened an Expert Group Meeting on prevention of violence against women and girls, on 17 to 20 September 2012 in Bangkok. 

A series of video clips capturing the discussions and perspectives of experts gathered there were produced by UNICEF, UN-Women, UNFPA and UNDP which can be found below.
The clips are on the following themes:

  2. Changing social norms, attitudes, beliefs and practices that condone violence

  4. The role of education in the prevention of violence against women and girls
