International Clearinghouse on Curriculum for HIV/AIDS Prevention, UNESCO IBE: Global Content Bank
The International Clearinghouse on Curriculum for HIV/AIDS Education (external link) focuses on collecting, analysing and disseminating information on education for the prevention and mitigation of HIV/AIDS at the school level (primary, secondary and teacher education). Of priority interest are official curriculum documents from around the world (plans, frameworks, teaching materials). A databank of curriculum materials and processes forms an integral part of the site. Criteria for curriculum appraisal are being completed and a system for evaluating and disseminating good practice as an integral part of the Clearinghouse facility is being developed.

This booklet is an example of Life Skills-Based Education materials that are used in emergency situations, especially for children and young people who are vulnerable to sexual abuse and rape. While the materials are intended for an audience (ages 10 and up in Southern Sudan, the core content of the material is universally applicable and the materials can be adapted to a particular situation.

SHAPE aims to equip young people with the necessary knowledge, attitudes and skills to promote healthy living and prevent the transmission of HIV/AIDS through the active participation and involvement of teachers, students, school principals, education officials, parents and other community members. The Soul City: Institute for Health and Development Communication (IHDC) education materials (external link) are based on the Soul City and Soul Buddyz television stories in South Africa. Some of the materials have been designed specifically for use in educational settings, with groups of learners and a facilitator. These educational settings range from the primary school classroom (Soul Buddyz materials) to the high school classroom (Lifeskills materials) to the formal and informal adult learning environment (education and training materials). Educational subjects include: AIDS, Violence Against Women, Water and Sanitation, Mother and Child Health.
