Les dernières fleurs sont tombées des rosiers du jardin et les vignes grimpantes qui ornent les murs de notre résidence sont entrées en hibernation. Cette année, l'hiver est arrivé plus tôt que d'habitude - indiquant ainsi qu'il pourrait être plus long et plus froid que l'an dernier.

It has been a tragic week for children. Last Friday at the UNICEF office we watched, with growing dismay, scenes from the captured school in Beslan that filled our television screen. We realized that there would not be a happy outcome to this terrible siege.
