Donor Update - 25 October 2005Recurrent and prolonged droughts, as well as sesame worm and locust infestations, have damaged crops and reduced food production. UNICEF is very concerned about the situation of malnutrition in the country which could rapidly deteriorate even further. The rates of moderate and severe malnutrition have increased alarmingly in all regions. Approximately 37,500 children will be in need of nutritional support should the 2005/2006 crops fail.
