Benin Crisis Appeal - 25 May 2005
The Government of Benin and the UN country team issued together a Flash Appeal for assisting more than 16,000 Togolese having fled to Benin, of which more than 50% are children. 11,000 have been accommodated with Beninese host families and another 5,600 are residing in refugee camps in border cities. UNICEF is assisting these populations in accessing water, sanitation and basic health, and in bringing children back to school. UNICEF will also especially take care of unaccompanied children. UNICEF requires $1,254,500 for the current crisis situation.
