UNICEF, the world's leading organization working for the rights of children, seeks a Deputy Director, D-1, Supply Division, Copenhagen, Denmark.
This position supports the Director in the management and policy development of UNICEF's Supply Division in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Overall, the incumbent will lead the planning, coordination and management of Supply Division operations in support of UNICEF country programmes and procurement services, including to help ensure efficient operations, value for money and healthy markets. S/He will work closely with programmes, partners and suppliers to ensure the integration of supply in programme strategies, product innovation and technical guidance. S/He will coordinate Supply Division's engagement with global partnerships, such as GAVI, GFATM, UNITAID, etc.
This function will oversee the following areas: Vaccines, Health Technologies, Medicines and Nutrition, and Procurement Services. To this end, the incumbent will:
. Coordinate with Programme Division the effective integration of supply into programme processes and the better definition of supply strategies in country programmes and the medium-term strategic plan of UNICEF, establishing priorities in terms of products and services, and ensuring Supply Division is fully in line with UNICEF global programme priorities.
. Oversee the procurement and technical work of the Vaccine, Health Technologies, Medicines & Nutrition and Procurement Services teams, providing guidance on policy and strategy, fostering relations with key industry partners, solving problems, monitoring performance, leading on high-profile activities and change.
. Monitor progress, effectiveness and relevance of market dynamics strategies with with a view to improving performance, supporting programmes and achieving value for money.
. Represent and coordinate Supply Division relations with global alliances, industry forums, and initiatives, such as GAVI, Access to Medicines, Roll Back Malaria, GFATM, UNITAID.
. Advanced University degree, preferably in Business Administration, Pharmacy, Public Administration or Law.
. Thirteen years of progressively responsible managerial experience with international, governmental or commercial organizations, with significant focus on operations.
. Specialised knowledge in procurement, markets and/or health products would be an asset.
. Fluency in English. Knowledge of another UN language is an asset.
. Extensive experience managing teams, with senior technical professionals, in high-pressure contexts
. Proven co-ordination, organizational and interpersonal skills that motivate and mobilize staff and stakeholders across different organizational units to collectively drive for results
. Strong experience managing high profile strategic partnerships, including global alliances and initiatives
. Technical and commercial knowledge relevant to the product groups/services under responsibility (Vaccines, Health Technologies, Pharmaceuticals, Nutrition, Procurement Services)
. Proven experience to formulate concepts and strategies, ensure buy-in, implement and monitor
. Strong communication and negotiation skills.
