HIV/AIDS Specialist, L-4, Panama City Regional Office, Panama

Purpose of the post:

Under the general guidance of the Regional HIV /AIDS Senior Adviser to provide high quality technical support and advice to UNICEF country offices, national governments  and their partners in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) to scale-up Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission of HIV and Pediatric HIV and AIDS treatment, care and support.

Your profile:

. Advanced university degree in Social Sciences or a related technical field.
. A minimum of eight years professional experience at national and international levels in programming planning and management in HIV prevention, care and treatment, of which at least four years have been in planning and management of Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission of HIV and/or Pediatric HIV Care and Treatment.
. Experience in development of national policies, strategic action plans, along with clinical and non-clinical guidelines, training manuals and operational protocols, and quality assurance monitoring tools are essential. 
. Experience in working in an international and multicultural environment, in particular experience in collaboration with other UN agencies and key international stakeholders in PMTCT and Pediatric HIV programming.
. Current knowledge of the latest developments and technology, in the field.
. Proven ability to conceptualize, develop, plan and manage programmes, as well as to impart knowledge and teach skills.
. Leadership and teamwork abilities.
. Good analytical, negotiating, communication and advocacy skills.
. Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and establish harmonious and effective working relationships both within and outside the organization.
. Computer skills, including internet navigation and various office applications.
. Fluency in English and another UN language required. Knowledge of French and/or Portuguese is an asset. Knowledge of the local working language of the duty station is an asset.
