Knowledge Management Specialist (New Initiatives), L-3, Baghdad, Iraq

If you are a passionate and committed professional and want to make a lasting difference for children, the world's leading children's rights organization would like to hear from you. UNICEF seeks a Knowledge Management Specialist (New Initiatives) to be based in its Baghdad office, Iraq.

Under the supervision of the Representative, you will be responsible for: developing and implementing a framework to systematically establish UNICEF Iraq as "one stop centre for knowledge on children"; continuously identifying and promoting the opportunities for innovations that focuses on delivery for children within the UNICEF Iraq Office priorities; and identifying and documenting lessons learned.

Your profile:
Advanced university degree in Social Sciences, Development Planning, Statistics, Socio-economic research or a related technical field.
Five years of progressively responsible professional work experience at national and international levels in development planning, development programme management, research and/or evaluation. Practical experience (2-3 years) in developing country settings.
Extensive practical experience in applying information technology to the implementation of knowledge management and knowledge sharing strategies.
Proven knowledge and understanding of KM systems, policies, procedures and practices.
Proven experience in establishing effective partnerships within and outside the organization in both the development and crisis environments.
Understanding of the workings of the UN system and preferably some years of employment within the UN system.
Strong conceptual and research analytical skills with the ability to think strategically and rapidly analyze and integrate diverse information from varied sources into conclusions and recommendations.
Strong analytical and conceptual abilities and quantitative and qualitative research skills.
Very good drafting and writing abilities, including in the presentation of analysis or research.
Strong knowledge of computer management skills, including information networking.
Good demonstrated understanding of development programming/planning and international development issues.
Specialized training in development policy or socio-economic research (desirable). 
Good communication skills, including in workshop and facilitation settings (desirable).
Fluency in English and another UN language required. Knowledge of Arabic is an asset.
