Child Protection Specialist (Mine Action), L-3, Kathmandu, Nepal

If you are a passionate and committed professional and want to make a lasting difference for children, the world's leading children's rights organization would like to hear from you. UNICEF seeks a Child Protection Specialist (Mine Action) to be based in its Kathmandu Office, Nepal.

Under the guidance of the Chief of Section, you will be responsible for the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of assigned the Mine Action project within the Child Protection sector.

Your profile:
Advanced university degree in Social Sciences, or related technical field.
Five years of progressively responsible professional work experience at the national and international levels in programme management, monitoring and evaluation, in mine risk education, surveillance systems, IHL advocacy  and clear understanding of integrated mine action
Knowledge of the International guidelines and analytical thinking in Mine Action.
Proven experience in governmental partnerships and capacity building programmes.
Sound understanding of formal and non-formal and participatory education methodologies.
Substantial experience in education and/or training. Strong skills in developing training materials/curriculum and facilitating workshops
Ability to coordinate and monitor effective emergency risk reduction responses in a timely fashion.
Knowledge of the latest developments and technology in related fields.
Analytical, negotiating, communication and advocacy skills.
Supervisory and managerial skills.
Leadership and teamwork abilities.
Computer skills, including internet navigation and various office applications.
Demonstrated ability to work in an a multi-cultural environment and establish harmonious and effective working relationships, both within and outside the organization.
Fluency in English and another UN language required. Knowledge of the local working language of the duty station is an asset.
