Child Protection Specialist (Capacity Building), P-4, Programmes, New York Headquarters

UNICEF seeks a Child Protection Specialist (Capacity Building) to be based in its Programmes division, New York Headquarters.

Under the supervision of the Chief, Child Protection, you will oversee the strengthening of UNICEF and partner capacities in child protection, principally through the development and dissemination of strategic approaches to Child Protection; through training and orientation;  through strengthened and more diverse partnerships;  improved  assessment tools; website and communications initiatives;  and close collaboration with other key sectors.  You will also monitor and report on the capacity-building initiative.

Your profile:
Advanced university degree in social sciences or other related field, preferable with some specialized training in international human rights standards, human resources management or public administration.
At least eight years of progressively responsible professional work experience at national and international levels in social development, management, monitoring and evaluation, with particular interest in issues relating to child protection.
Current knowledge of development issues, policies as well as social programming policies and procedures in international development cooperation.
Proven ability to conceptualize, innovate, plan and execute ideas as well as to transfer knowledge and skills.
Leadership and organizational ability.
Good analytical, negotiating, communication and advocacy skills.
Good knowledge of computer management an applications.
Ability to work in an international and multicultural environment.
Fluency in English. Knowledge of another UN working language is required.
