1 in 6: One in six children in the developing world is engaged in child labour

World Fit For Children Goal: Elaborate and implement strategies to protect children from economic exploitation and from performing any work that is likely to be hazardous or to interfere with the child’s education or to be harmful to the child’s health or physical, mental, spiritual, moral or social development.

One in six children in the developing world is engaged in child labour.

Global estimates show that around 150 million children aged 5–14 are currently engaged in child labour, with incidence highest in sub-Saharan Africa. Adolescents who work excessive hours or in hazardous conditions are unlikely to be able to complete their education, severely curtailing their ability to escape from poverty.
