Lessons learned examples
The following selection of lessons learned and innovations in UNICEF policy advocacy and programming illustrate the range of UNICEF's work. These examples are selected from a large number of on-going programmes of cooperation across the world.
These pieces, from different regions of the world, are grouped according to the five "Focus Areas" in the UNICEF Medium Term Strategic Plan for 2006-2009, approved by the Executive Board: (1) Young child survival and development, (2) Basic education and gender equality, (3) HIV/AIDS and children, (4) Child protection from violence and abuse, and (5) Policy advocacy and partnerships for children's rights. UNICEF is also active in a large number of emergency situations; one piece describes some of UNICEF's work in response to the tsunami disaster of 2004. A number of other pieces, including on HIV/AIDS, can be found in the selections from preceding years.
If you are more interested in a particular topic or featured innovation, or would like to make comments, please contact the UNICEF Headquarters (rmorgan@unicef.org) or the UNICEF country office involved. Each of these pieces is a summary and more detailed information is available.
