Kenya: Violence against children
December 2012: UNICEF advocates for the protection of children from all forms of abuse, neglect, and violence and continues to support a variety of initiatives for vulnerable Kenyan children, including those who have been subjected to violence.

Turkana: Water, sanitation and hygiene project
November 2012: Access to improved drinking water has made a real difference in the community, especially for the children. Gender-sensitive segregated latrines have been constructed in four schools to address sanitation hence improving girls' enrolment.

Gender-based violence in Somalia
July 2012: In many displacement camps, incidents of gender-based violence – including rape, as well as violent attacks following food distributions – are increasing. UNICEF is supporting preventive initiatives while aiding affected girls and women.

Measles vaccination campaign in Burundi
An integrated measles vaccination campaign was held in June 2012 as part of nationwide Maternal and Child Health Week activities. The campaign aimed to vaccinate more than 1.4 million children aged 6 months to 5 years old against the disease.

Day of the African Child 2012: Living with disability in Namibia
This year’s Day of the African Child was commemorated under the theme ‘The Rights of the Children with disabilities: The Duty to Protect, Respect, Promote and Fulfil’. The event served as a platform to launch Namibia’s National Agenda for Children.
