Donor update - 13 December 2004
Despite the significant progress achieved since the end of civil war some three years ago, children and women continue to live under very difficult circumstances and are denied access to their basic rights to survival, protection and development. As of the end of November, less than 50% of the 2004 appeal to cover needs were received. As we approach the end of the year, UNICEF strongly urges the donor community to augment its contributions to the appeal. Funds are urgently needed for primary education and malaria prevention and response, as well as for the smooth transition of programme activities into the new year.
