Donor update - 6 November 2003
UNICEF is concerned by the killings of children and the recruitment of children by armed groups, as well as by the increase in reported cases of sexual violence against girls and women. Also, the lack of access to the displaced population still hampers humanitarian assistance, although one UNICEF supported local association in Ruyigi recently succeeded in distributing non-food items to over 300 households in a highly affected area in the province. During September, UNICEF distributed non-food items to approximately 20,000 IDPs gathered in five camps in Cankuzo province.
