Mobinil and UNICEF Join Hands During Ramadan to Assist Egyptian ChildrenCairo, 19 SEPTEMBER, 2007 -- UNICEF and Mobinil – Egypt's largest mobile telecommunications provider– launched a partnership in Ramadan 2007 called "Caring for Children" to raise awareness and resources for Egyptian children. During the month of Ramadan, Mobinil will contribute a portion of its revenue out of each call to UNICEF. The donation will go towards UNICEF programmes in Egypt in the areas of children at risk, child labour, young child survival and development, and children's media. The campaign aims to increase public awareness about the situation of Egyptian children – targeting what can be done – and mobilize public action. The campaign will begin with a high profile television campaign – using four different ads featuring children - and will continue later across print media, eventually culminating in in-store and awareness-raising campaigns. "We are pleased to partner with such a prominent company as Mobinil, which has a well-deserved reputation for its philanthropic work. It has a tremendous reach in Egypt and is able to deliver important messages about the situation of children to a wide and diverse audience," said UNICEF Egypt Representative Dr. Erma Manoncourt. On this occasion Mr. Iskandar Shalaby, Mobinil’s CEO expressed his deep content to participate in this community service effort dedicated to children during the holy month of Ramadan. “In fact, it’s a pleasure to continue our collaboration with the UNICEF and other reputable organizations in such goodwill activities that enforce our corporate responsibility targets and contribute to the development of our society”, he said. Mobinil customers support the campaign through the deducted portion of the revenue per call they make during Ramadan.
