Children animation workshop in Menya 2004

CAIRO, March 6,  2005 :  Members of  the media are invited to attend an animation workshop to be held during  the Cairo International Film Festival For Children.  During the workshop, a group of schoolchildren will be taught how to create a simple animated film using a digital video camera and a variety of materials.

The techniques used will be the same as those used in the UNICEF-produced documentary film "Rebellion of the Canes", which is being presented in the official competition at the Festival. The documentary tells the story of a group of children who make a series of short animation films on the theme of children's rights

The animation workshop will take place on Wednesday March 9, from 11.30 – 1.30pm, and from 2.30 – 4.30pm, at the Open Theatre, Cairo Opera House.

UNICEF's participation in the 15th Cairo International Film Festival for children is founded on the belief that art is a concrete means to enhance children's creativity.  As in 2002 and 2003, UNICEF  will award prizes for the best feature and animation films reflecting issues related to children's rights.
