CHILDREN'S FORUM DISCUSSES CHILD RIGHTS IN EGYPT

Cairo, September 7, 2004: Members of the UNICEF-supported Children's Forum met in Cairo this week to discuss issues related to children's rights in Egypt. The gathering of some 40 children and adolescents – representing 14 governorates – was organized by the Association for Health and Environmental Development (AHED) in cooperation with the NGO Coalition on Child Rights and under the auspices of the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood (NCCM).

Members of the media were invited to attend the closing session, during which the Children's Forum presented their views on the first draft of the 3rd Periodic Report on the Rights of the Child in Egypt. The final version of the Report will be presented to the Committee on the Rights of the Child in Geneva, Switzerland.
