The Ministry of Finance and UNICEF launched the Electronic Bulletin on Citizenship and Transparency with 2007 results
Quito, March 08.- The new Electronic Bulletin on Citizenship and Financial Transparency, produced as a joint effort between the Ecuadorian Ministry of Finance and UNICEF, is available on the Ministry of Finance´s official website since November 2007 . It is also available on UNICEF´s web page, due to a mutual agreement between both counterparts. The main purpose of this first issue is to give transparent and detailed access to all citizens to the country’s economical and financial situation.
The document contains analyzed information about economic indicators such us financial growth, inflation, unemployment, interest rates, state budget, public debt, public investment, GNP and a glossary of terms, enableling the visitor to easily understand, compare and analyse the information. For instance if someone from a small province wants to know what percentage of the national budget will be invested on social and healthcare issues, he or she will have access to accurate information and data. The idea is to broaden general knowledge and concepts on these issues , in order to have more citizen involvement and follow up concerning the work of the Ministry of Finance.
Transparency Bulletin No. 1 analyzes the financial situation in 2007. The following publications will be issued quarterly and will approach many of the subjects mentioned above.
The second Issue will have updated information regarding the economic situation of the past three months and it will be available on UNICEF´s web site on April.
