One of the questions asked is how many Ecuadorian adolescents are not attending secondary school

Ecuadorian adolescents have their rights fulfilled in 4.1/10, according to the Observatory of the Rights of Children and Adolescents.  Even though their situation has slightly improved since 2002 (4.0), if  country indexes were grades in a school system, it would be said that the country failed.

The Children Rights Index for adolescents between 12 and 17 years 11 months of age (CRI-3) measured by the Observatory refers to three basic rights:

- To develop intellectual skills

- To enjoy a dignified life

- To a healthy growth, both physical and emotional

In order to rate the fulfillment of these rights in the adolescence, every year the Citizen Observatory finds the answers to three questions:

How many adolescents are not inscribed in secondary school?

How many die of preventable causes, such as accidents, suicides and homicides?

What proportion of annual births correspond to adolescent mothers?

These questions are answered on the basis of national statistics, both at the national and the provincial levels.
