Kenya - Healing amidst tragedy
The European Union Humanitarian Aid Department (ECHO) responded immediately when UNICEF needed emergency funding to help children and families caught in Kenya’s election violence in 2008. ECHO provided about $2 million to secure shelter and other essentials for displaced people. Its long-term support also helps UNICEF to alleviate the effects of severe drought in northern Kenya.
