UNICEF supplies ready for earthquake stricken districtsJakarta, 14 September 2007 - United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF, today is sending emergency supplies to help victims of the earthquake in Bengkulu. UNICEF has deployed staff to Bengkulu to assess the immediate needs of victims and allocated US$ 200,000 for emergency supplies of family and school tents, hygiene kits, water bladders, jerry cans, mosquito nets, cooking utensils and water purification liquid. These supplies have been transported from Medan, North Sumatra today and are due to arrive in the earthquake zone on Monday morning, 17 September.
