UNICEF delivers hygiene supplies to families affected by the monsoon floods in Philippines

Manila, 24 August 2012—UNICEF and the Department of Health (DOH) continue to assist families affected by the recent flooding by delivering much-needed supplies to evacuation centers. Following assessment by experts and partners, UNICEF is concerned about hygiene and the spread of diseases in the centers. UNICEF and DOH distributed 4,000 hygiene and water kits and 3,000 proper handwashing posters. UNICEF is also providing 100 portalets at the request of the DOH.
