UNICEF Met the Needs of 2005 With Your Help 6 January 2006

As we reflect upon the past year, we see that 2005 was an unprecedented year of emergencies for the world’s children.

The massive Indian Ocean tsunami of last December was only the start of a long series of natural disasters, conflicts and crises that endangered children’s lives throughout the year.

In fact, UNICEF has not responded to such an array of humanitarian emergencies in a single year in recent memory.

Yet 2005 was also an unprecedented year for UNICEF because of the incredible and continuing support from millions of people like you.

Throughout the year, every time we asked for your help in assisting the world’s children—you were there. You responded. And your support made the difference in the lives of millions of children throughout the world in 2005.

We want to thank you for your support of UNICEF; we could not have met the challenges of the past year without you.

And as we look forward to 2006, we know that no matter what new challenges lie ahead, we can count on you.

Thank you for everything you do, and Happy New Year.

For every child
