United Nations Population FundCo-operation between UNFPA and the Government of DPR Korea began in 1985. Programmes have been in the area of reproductive health. Specifically, UNFPA supports the Government to raise the quality of life by improving the reproductive health status of men and women in three provinces, and increase reproductive health information and knowledge. Basic medicines, medical equipment and instruments for reproductive health care, including ambulances have been provided to the provincial and district hospitals. Capacity building is an important part of the programme, as is male involvement and gender aspects in reproductive health and family planning.
