Our programs

The action of the UNICEF Djibouti is articulated around four programs developed to support the government. This action aims to contribute in general to achieve the Millennium Development Goals as part of the realization of children and women rights.

Child survival and Development

UNICEF supports acceleration of interventions related to immunization, childhood illnesses management, malnutrition control and access to safe drinking water.

Basic Education and Gender Equality
Although about half of the children of school age is not at the school, the future of schooling in Djibouti is very promising, especially with regards to girls schooling.

Fight against HIV/AIDS
UNICEF supports interventions aiming at the reduction of HIV transmission from mother to child as well as prevention of the virus in the young people.

Child protection
UNICEF supports the national effort for the abandonment female genital mutilations as well as birth registration, orphans and vulnerable children-related interventions.
