Montblanc has been a supporter of UNICEF since 2004, contributing over $10 million to education and literacy programmes that provide children worldwide with a chance for a better future through education.



The right to a quality education

Montblanc supports UNICEF’s belief that all children have the right to a quality education. Yet today, around 59 million children remain out of school. Many enrol but drop out before completing a full primary cycle – in sub-Saharan Africa, one in five children drop out before completing school. Others either are yet to be enrolled in primary school or never start school.

The support of partners such as Montblanc is essential to providing good quality education for all children, including the most excluded and marginalized.

Montblanc's support to UNICEF

Thanks to its 10-year commitment and successful cause-related marketing campaigns, Montblanc has been contributing to create sustainable, long-term impact for children, families and communities through investments in UNICEF education programmes.

To broaden the impact of Montblanc’s support, UNICEF and Montblanc have agreed to allocate funding to a large number of countries and a diverse range of activities in Latin America as well as in Asia and Africa through the Schools for Asia and Schools for Africa initiatives, established to promote quality education in Asia and Africa. The initiatives aim to increase access to quality basic schooling for all, with an emphasis on helping the most disadvantaged, including children orphaned by HIV/AIDS and children living in extreme poverty. In Ethiopia, for example, an estimated 85 per cent of primary school aged children are now enrolled.

Cause-related marketing campaigns

Montblanc initiated its support through its ‘Sign Up for the Right to Write’ and the ‘Power to Write’ global fundraising initiatives launched in 2004 and 2007 respectively, which together have raised over $1 million to benefit children around the world.

In 2009, Montblanc renewed its commitment to working for children’s right to literacy and education by launching the 2009–2010 ‘Signature for Good’ initiative to support UNICEF, which raised over $4 million from June 2009 through May 2010.

In 2013, Montblanc stepped up its global Signature for Good initiative, developing a collection of writing instruments, jewellery and accessories to help raise funds to support UNICEF in its work to provide quality education for all children. For every item in the specially designed collection sold in Montblanc boutiques and retailers between March 2013 and March 2014, Montblanc donated a part of the proceeds and raised $5 million for UNICEF education programmes.
