Montblanc has been a dedicated supporter of UNICEF since 2004 contributing over US$ 5 million to education and literacy programmes for children worldwide.
Montblanc has supported UNICEF’s education programmes for children through its “Sign Up for the Right to Write” and the “Power to Write” global fundraising initiatives launched in 2004 and 2007 respectively, which have collectively raised over US$ 1 million to benefit UNICEF. The 2009-2010 "Signature for Good" global cause-related marketing campaign has raised over US$ 4 million.
2013-2014 “Signature for Good” Campaign
On February 23,2013, in Los Angeles, Montblanc launched the new "Signature for Good" campaign in support of UNICEF. This marks the fourth global campaign between Montblanc and UNICEF.
In this new collaboration, Montblanc has pledged US 1.5 million to UNICEF through a global cause-related marketing campaig. For each item in the collection sold between March 2013 and March 2014 Montblanc will donate part of the proceeds to UNICEF. Funds will support UNICEF's Schools for Africa and Schools for Asia initiatives, as well as UNICEF's education programmes for children in Latin America to ensure that children have access to a quality education.
This new collection includes carefully crafted writing instruments, leather products, jewelry and cufflinks with a symbolic brick motif symbolizing UNICEF's School for Africa campaign.
UNICEF believes that all children have the right to education. They deserve to be able to read and write and take advantage of all the opportunities that literacy can bring. Yet, worlwide, only 60 per cent of children of secondary school age are enrolled in secondary school.
Montblanc has been a dedicated supporter of UNICEF's education programmes since 2004, helping UNICEF to achieve tangible programmatic results in various countries.
Lutz Bethge, CEO of Montblanc International explains, "with 61 million children not yet enrolled in school, it is our duty to take the necessary steps to empower these children with an education so that they have the knowledge, the skills and confidence to shape a better future for themselves and their communities".
Field visit to Ethiopia
From October 2-5, 2012, Actress Hilary Swank and Montblanc International CEO Lutz Bethge travelled to Ethiopia, to see both the progress achieved to date with the help of funds raised by Montblanc and the challenges still to overcome in the area of education. They joined Caryl M. Stern, President and CEO of the U.S. Fund for UNICEF and Christian Schneider, Executive Director of UNICEF Germany, on a three-day trip to Ethiopia to understand how UNICEF works to change children's lives. This trip to Ethiopia provided an opportunity for the visitors to learn about the importance of education and the opportunities that it brings in some of the more disadvantaged communities in the world.
During the visit, Dr. Peter Salama, UNICEF Representative in Ethiopia said, "All children have the right to access education of good quality and thanks to our partnership with Montblanc, children of the poorest and most vulnerable families have the opportunity to unleash their potential through education. In Ethiopia alone, support from Montblanc has contributed to the establishment of 2,400 and rehabilitiation of 800 Alternative Basic Education Centers reaching 846,000 children including many orphans and pastoralists. Providing children with quality basic education will in turn give them significantly better changes in life".
