Standing with children, against AIDS

As never before, HIV/AIDS is threatening children. Perhaps the collective perception that this is a menace affecting mostly adults makes us lose sight of the fact that it is a sword of Damocles, hanging over the heads of thousands of children.

LAW ON CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS

Ibero-American Communication Awards in Child and Adolescent Rights: UNICEF announces 17 finalists in the IV Competition

Panama City, October 20, 2005. The Technical Commission for the Ibero-American Awards today announced the 17 finalists from around Latin America in the IVth Competition. The entries represent six categories: press, radio, graphic arts, television, television for child and adolescent audiences, and HIV/AIDS.

Children: The Missing Face of AIDS

UNICEF, UNAIDS and other partners today launched a global campaign focusing on the enormous impact of HIV/AIDS on children, saying it was a disgrace that fewer than 5 per cent of HIV-positive children receive treatment and that millions of children who have lost parents to the disease go without support.
