在儿童保护方面需要解决哪些问题？
除了对人权的侵犯外，对儿童权利保护的侵犯在每个国家中都在大量发生，而且认识不足，报道不够，它对儿童的生存和发展会产生障碍。遭受到暴力、剥削、虐待和忽视的儿童更易在其今后的生活中遭遇到如下危险：如死亡、不良身心健康问题、艾滋病毒/艾滋病的感染、教育问题、流离失所、无家可归、流浪漂泊和缺乏为人父母的技巧等。
联合国儿童基金会的儿童保护方案旨在对儿童的暴力、剥削和虐待问题的预防和应对。该方案也针对保护那些在某些特定情况下，如孤儿和弱势儿童，和法律发生冲突，及武装冲突时特别易遭到伤害的儿童。联合国儿童基金会的儿童保护方案寻求对以下问题的解决：
出生登记：在发展中国家，每年约5000万新生儿出生未经登记。
童工：除了家庭童工外，大约有2亿1800万年龄在5至17岁的儿童在外从事童工的劳动。其中1亿2600万儿童在有害的工作环境下劳动。
童婚：在发展中国家，大约6500万年龄在20至24岁的妇女在18岁之前就已结婚或联姻，其中3000万生活在南亚。
拐卖儿童：据估计，每年有120万儿童被拐卖。
武装冲突和紧急情况下的儿童：超过30万名儿童兵，有些仅8岁，被招募参与到全球30个国家中的武装冲突中。自1990年，武装冲突直接导致了200万名儿童的死亡。
司法系统中的儿童问题：全世界有100多万名儿童被执法人员拘留。
孤儿和弱势儿童：大约有1亿4300万名儿童会失去父母中的一方或双方。
女性生殖器割礼：据估计，非洲目前大约有1亿至1亿4000万妇女和女童接受了割礼。根据目前的出生率，每年大约有300万女童面临着接受割礼的危险。
对儿童的性剥削：据估计，约有200万名儿童在参与卖淫和色情行业中遭受性剥削。
