联合国儿童基金会提供给缅甸水灾灾民的物资送达桑德维

一位桑德维居民指出水灾期间最高的水位的位置。

2007年7月11日，缅甸仰光。联合国儿童基金会的紧急物资已经抵达缅甸若开邦桑德维县，以帮助受近期水灾影响的家庭。

若开邦位于西部沿海，与孟加拉国相邻，七月初受到了暴雨的袭击，桑德维县、布帝洞县、敏匹亚、实兑县、安、皓域、颜柏和瓦县都遭受了洪水的袭击。

今天，联合国儿童基金会代表拉迈施#施瑞沙说：“泛滥的洪水毁坏了房屋、医院、卫生站，学校的地上布满了泥浆。”

“泥浆还污染了成百上千的饮用水井，淤堵了公共厕所。因此我们很担心依靠这些水井的社区。”

通过陆路和空运提供救济物资

在若开邦帮助监控第三期小儿麻痹疫苗活动的联合国基金组织现场监控官员现在帮助进行快速的评估，以了解受水灾影响社区的进一步需要。

联合国儿童基金会于星期二空运了成套的基本药物供应给医院和卫生站，还送出了36,000片水源净化药片和1,000套口服补液盐，帮助受水灾影响的家庭。

进一步大批的物资，尤其是通过氯来净化的水净化粉，将尽快通过陆路运出（这些物资无法进行空运）。将通过陆路运出的还有350套家用物资和更多的口服补液盐。家用物资包括衣服、肥皂、火柴、蜡烛、饮食和烹饪用具、蚊帐和庇护所用的防水布。

与此同时，在仰光，联合国儿童基金会加紧印刷10万本关于如何防范登革热的小册子，努力防止登革热在灾区的爆发。
