UNICEF Belgium was created on 26 June 1952, and is the oldest National Committee for UNICEF in Europe. The work of the Belgian National Committee for UNICEF focuses mainly on communication and fundraising for children worldwide. Since the adoption of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1989, the Committee has become a frontline advocate for children’s rights.

Child rights education and the promotion of the right of children and youngsters to participate is fostered through the “What do you think?” Project www.whatdoyouthink.be, a major ongoing consultation campaign.The Committee is also very engaged in pursuing commitments made at the UN Special Session on Children (May 2002) with policy-makers and the general public.

UNICEF Belgium works with the help of hundreds of volunteers in some 50 sub-committees throughout the country.. You can learn more about volunteering, donating or buying cards through the links on the right under ‘Visit UNICEF Belgium’; you can also leave a legacy to UNICEF Belgium.

As well as volunteers, UNICEF Belgium counts on the fantastic support of Goodwill Ambassadors, some of whom are detailed below. They raise awareness of issues, make field trips and support various campaigns.
