UNICEF United With Beijing Community

After 162 matches, played by 48 teams, the one-day, 5-a-side football competition stands to raise a significant amount of money for United for UNICEF, the partnership between United and children's charity UNICEF.

The money raised for United for UNICEF from the 2005 MasterCard Beijing Community Cup will go towards UNICEF's work with children in China, as part of UNICEF's campaign to End Child Exploitation.

The partnership has raised over £1.5 million since it was established in 1999, and has directly impacted the lives of over 1.5 million children (that's enough to fill Old Trafford 22 times!)

The end of the tournament does not, however, signal an end to the fundraising. Thanks to the involvement of United for UNICEF, there will be a prize draw shortly before the Manchester United vs Beijing Guo'an match in July this year, offering entrants the chance to win an MUFC signed ball and other special prizes.

Those who took part in the 2005 MasterCard Beijing Community Cup already have tickets and a chance of winning - those that would like to join them will have a chance to do so in the near future.

For a preliminary total and more news updates as they are announced interested parties are encourage to check the ClubFootball English and Chinese web sites at: www.clubfootball.com.cn and www.wanguoqunxing.com.
