Create a Better New World, New Living Painting Competition

Nationwide New Living Painting Competition

New World China Land (NWCL) has been organizing fundraising activities to raise awareness about UNICEF's work in China among its customers and business partners since it became corporate partner of UNICEF.

One success story was a nationwide 'Create a Better New World, New Living Painting Competition' between August and November 2007. NWCL offices in 11 cities participated in this event, including: Shenyang, Beijing, Tianjin, Jinan, Shanghai, Wuhan, Changsha, Guangzhou, Huizhou, Zhuhai and Haikou.

Publicity activities in these cities attracted 3000 paintings from participants at different ages. Selected paintings were exhibited in local painting exhibitions and the best 110 paintings were exhibited at New World Shopping Mall in Beijing. Out of the above 110 paintings, 6 were selected by UNICEF and artists from PHE for an auction at the Charity Night to celebrate the 8th Listing Anniversary of NWCL on 16 November 2007.  RMB 1,190,000.00 was raised in the auction and painting competition.  The money was donated to support UNICEF’s Child Friendly Schools Project in western China.

3 paintings were recommended by UNICEF to its headquarters in Geneva for consideration to be the cover of one of its 2009 UNICEF Greeting Cards.

Children had fun in sharing their imagination, creativity and their dreams in the painting competition.
